Dear
Parents,
Thank
you for volunteering to help with the field trip. I have attached the schedule showing who has volunteered for
which classes/days...please let me know if I have made any mistakes.
The
Tuesday numbers for Red Day classes are great, but only a few of you said that
you could also be available on Thursday (if Tuesday gets rained out). This will limit how many different
areas that the students can be working in, so...if anyone can be available both
days, please try.
The
Wednesday numbers are ok...hope no one has to back out, though! And again, if you are available for the
rain date and just didn't mark it, please let me know.
On
the day of the field trip, you can either meet us at WMS and ride with (or
follow) us OR meet us at Pertle Springs.
Whichever works best for your schedule. I will need to know your plans, so please respond to this
message. If you are meeting us at Pertle, plan on us being there approximately
15 minutes after the time shown on the schedule. We will park in the "lower" parking lot (enter at
base of road up to the pool/golf course).
Dress
for the weather and to keep chiggers and ticks off...spraying insect repellant
on ankles is recommended. Many of
the student teams (2-3 students) will be working on separate tasks in close
proximity to each other, but I plan for three teams to be either sweeping an
open area for insects, collecting redcedar bark, or locating lichens on rocks
and concrete. This will depend on
if we have enough adults to send one with each of these three teams.
Each
student team will have a guide sheet and necessary materials to do their job. I
hope that the adult volunteers will ensure that the guidelines are followed,
that students are acting safely, and help the students as needed...they are all
doing these field tasks for the first time!
Please
acknowledge receipt of this email and confirm the blocks/dates that you are
available to assist. Also, please share any recommendations that you have
and/or ask any questions.
Thank
you so much for your support and taking time from your busy schedules to help
us with this project! Keep your fingers crossed in hopes that the weather stays
just like it is...we need it a little damp and we need it to stay warm!
Sincerely,
Trish
