# Sherwin Carlquist Digital Extended Specimen Network

> Public site for a BRIT/Fort Worth Botanic Garden and California Botanic Garden project (NSF Awards 2133562 and 2133561) that links the botanical specimens, field images, publications, and archival materials of Sherwin Carlquist (1930–2021), a leading authority on plant wood anatomy, island biogeography, and systematics. The network has many parts (specimens, media, field notes, field images, publications); the publications bibliography is only one of them, and it is released separately as a CC0 dataset.

The site is a static HTML site. The publications explorer renders its data with JavaScript, so its content is not visible to non-JS crawlers. The full bibliography is in [llms-full.txt](https://britorg.github.io/carlquist_esn/llms-full.txt), and the underlying data is in the Zenodo dataset below. That dataset covers publications only. It does not include the specimens, images, field notes, or archival materials.
